Sarah Powell

When Sarah "Sallie" Strother was born on October 28, 1776, in Fauquier County, Virginia, her father, Reuben, was 31 and her mother, Susannah, was 28.

She was married three times and had 12 sons and 10 daughters. She died on June 12, 1824, in Harrison County, Virginia (that area is presently Taylor County, West Virginia), at the age of 47.

She married her first husband, Henry Powell, on April 9, 1787, (alternate date below)

On July 20, 1805, she married her second husband, Thomas Newlon, in Fauquier County.Virginia.

Sarah first married 17 Apr 1787 Fauquier Co, VA Henry POWELL and had 8 or 9 children (Reuben c1790, William c1792, Charlotte 1793, Elizabeth "Betsy" c1794, Margaret "Patsy" 1796, Benjamin; Sarah c1799, Allison Burr c1802? Sarah second married 20 Jul 1805 Harrison Co, VA Thomas NEWLON (himself a widower); and they had Susannah b 1806, Peyton b 1807, and James b 1809. {at least 4 children of Thomas NEWLON's first marriage to Susan UNK of Loudoun Co, VA, were also living with them after their marriage: Cele b c1794, William Warren b 1795; John b 1798; Sarah b 1794-1804 and maybe another dau per census records). Thomas NEWLON's Inventory is list in 1817 Harrison Co, VA. Sarah NEWLON is in the 1820 census and the widow Sary NEWLON is listed in the PPTL 1821 to 1826. 1827 Harrison Co, VA is Inventory of Sarah NEWLON... [by Jim Bartlett]
