The wife of John Skinner is often found as Anne St. Leger, the daughter of John St. Leger and Margaret Donnet. However, she is certainly not a daughter of this John St. Leger as his will names only three daughters, Florence, Margaret and Alice. His heirs are all named in a clause detailing the remainder interest to the manor of Silham:

"If he [James my son] dies without heirs males then [in order] to Ralph, Thomas, Bartholomew and for default to remain to Florence, Margaret and Alice my daughters and their heirs".

This precludes the possibility of Anne being his daughter.

A source proving her name to be either Anne or St. Leger still needs to be found.
