Biographical Summary
"Sir William Cunningham Dalyell, or Dalziell, Baronet [S. 1685], of Binns, br. and h., being 5th and yst. s. of the 4th Baronet, b. 27 April 1784 ; was an officer in the Navy, 1792, receiving no less than sixteen wounds in various actions, and being many years a prisoner in France ; becoming finally Capt. R.N. and commander of Greenwich Hospital. He suc. to the Baronetcy, 7 June 1851. He in. in 1820, Maria, sister of Anthony Sampayo, French Minister at Hesse, da. of Anthony Teixiera Sampayo, of Peterborough House, Fulham, Midx. He d. 16 Feb. 1865, at his residence in Greenwich Hospital, in his 81st year. His widow d. 20 Oct. 1871 aged 72, at 120 Belgrave road, Pimlico."
