About Violet Maton Wienholt Stark
Vi, known by the family nickname of Fox, had polio as a child.
In 1908 she was living at Noke.
At the time of the 1911 census, Violet's husband Kenneth Macmeikan (31) (who died the following year of TB) was in the household of his parents and grandmother in Sandwich, Kent. (Violet was perhaps absent at a relation's house). She was very close to the Macmeikan family and their two boarders, Una (20) and Florence (18) Mackenzie. Florence, known as Fonnie, was a close friend of the STARK siblings. regarding them almost as her brothers and sisters.
In January 1912, Una was killed in a riding accident, aged just 21. Less than two months later, Vi's husband Ken (Kenneth Macmeikan) succumbed at last to TB. As a distraction from all that grief, a short time later Vi & her sister Gladys went to visit their Stark relations in Canada. Their brother Jack, writing to his brother Gordon, anticipated the sisters' departure as another bereavement for him. He hoped his brother would come and stay with him at the Macmeikans' house in Sandwich at Easter, as a paying guest.
In 1917 Violet was living at 33 Alfred Place West, SW London.
Witnesses at her wedding to Claude Powell were M.B. Powell, J.D.W. Stark and W.R. Powell.
Died in St. Mary's Convent, 86 Hatherley Road, Cheltenham. Witnesses were: John A.W. Stark, John Alexander Macmeikan, John Burden Sanderson Haldane.
Daughter KA Stringer registered death.
