Mary Smyth, wife or Robert Moulton and daughter of Henry Smyth, was born say 1579, probably in Hemsby, England, but a baptismal record has not been found for any of Henry's children.

Roberte Moulton married Mary Smyth 15 May 1595, at St Mary the Virgin, Hemsby, Norfolk (Parish Register) [1]

Robert Moulton was named as son-in-law in Henry Smyth's will. Henry's namesake Henry Moulton (great-grandson, son of John, son of Robert)[2]

Mary Moulton was buried 27 April 1636 in the Ormesby St. Margaret churchyard.[3]

Note Christening May 1579/80 is for Mary Smith daughter of John.

No christening record has been found for her. The birth year is an estimation based on her marriage in 1595. The last name appears in sources as both Smythe and Smith. Her parents were Henry & Bridget Smyth which is apparent from Henry's will that stated, "...unto Rob'te Moulton my sonne in Lawe Fower and twenty pownds."

"At the age of thirty, Robert Moulton of Ormsby, Norfolk, married, date May 15, 1595 in Hemsby, Norfolk, the parish of his bride, Mary Smith. They made their home in nearby Scratby." (Myrtle S. Hyde)

They had ten children, all born in Scratby, England: Samuel (1596), John (about 1599), Bridget (1601), James l(1603), Henry (about 1604), Thomas (1608), Mary (1608), Elizabeth (1610), Miriam (about 1614) and Ruth (about 1617). These were all mentioned in his will except Bridget who apparently had died before her father and Samuel who had been sent to Cambridge University and ordained as a deacon.

Mary's will was written March 29, 1636, in Ormsby. Her exact death date is unknown, but "she received BURIAL in Ormsby, April 27, 1636." (Myrtle S. Hyde)

History of Hampton : "Robert Moulton, Scratby. Son of Thomas. Yeoman. He married 15 May 1595 at Hemsby Mary Smith. She may have been the Mary, daughter of John Smith who was baptised 22 Mar. 1579 at Caister-by-sea. But with so many Smith families we can't be sure. Robert Moulton's will 8 Oct. 1633 and was proved 22 Nov. following at Norwich. He was buried 11 Oct. 1633 at Hemsby. Mary (Smith) Moulton's Will is dated 29 Mar. 1636 and was proved at Yarmouth 10 June following. She was buried 27 April 1636 at Ormesby St. Margaret." He was married to * Mary Smith on MAY 15 1595 in Scratby, Helmsby parish, England.
