Means island in Irish. My Laun great grandparents were from Germany. They were farmers. There are several Laun families in Marinette County, Wisconsin. My family of Launs lived in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. I was in a bookstore in Whitefish Bay, WI one day and found a huge book on the genealogy of Jesus Christ. Being curious, I searched the book for any surnames of all of my family. Laun was listed as one of them. The Laun surname is connected to King Arthur legend.
