Featured Project: RMS Titanic

Today we feature the RMS Titanic project. The goal of this project is to identify the survivors and casualties of the sinking of the RMS Titanic on Geni. On April 10, 1912 the RMS Titanic, the largest passenger ship in the world, set sail on her maiden voyage from Southhampton, England to New York City. Four days into her journey, the ship struck an iceberg and tragically sank to the depths of the ocean the following morning. Of the 2,227 people on board, only about 700 survived. If you’re interested in learning more about the individuals aboard the luxury liner, perhaps you’ll want to join the project and collaborate.

Here’s a look at a few of the profiles included in the project:

Thomas Andrews – He was a ship builder and in charge of the plans for the RMS Titanic.

Benjamin Guggenheim – He was an American businessman and the son of mining magnet Meyer Guggenheim.

Lady Lucy Christiana Duff-Gordon – She was a leading fashion designer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

John Jacob Astor – He was an American millionaire, real estate builder, inventor and writer.

Isidor Straus – He was the co-owner of Macy’s department store.
