GEDCOM Import Raised to 15,000

Posted June 19, 2008 by Geni | No Comment

When we initially released our GEDCOM Import feature, users could import GEDCOM files with up to 1,000 people in them. We have been increasing this limit since the initial release, and last night we increased the limit from 5,000 to 15,000.

If you have a GEDCOM file with up to 15,000 people you can now use it to start a Geni tree.

GEDCOM, an acronym for GEnealogical Data COMmunication, is a specification for exchanging genealogical data between different genealogy software. With a GEDCOM file you can import all of your data from your offline genealogy application to Geni, where you can easily share it with your family. For more information on GEDCOM and Geni visit the GEDCOM page on our user wiki.
