During World War II, her family went into hiding to escape the Nazis. While in hiding, Anne kept a diary of her thoughts, desires and experiences. For two years, the family lived in secret with four others in a small annex. Upon their discovery, they were taken to a Nazi concentration camp. Her father, Otto Frank, would be the only member of the family to survive.
In 1947, he published his daughter’s diary, which has since been read by millions. To this day, her words continue to inspire and touch readers all around the world.
