Bonnie Parker & Clyde Barrow

On this day in 1934, infamous outlaws Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were shot and killed in an ambush by police in Bienville Parish, Louisiana.

Between 1932-1934, the famous gangsters captured the attention of the American public as they traveled throughout the country committing robberies and murders. The media coverage of their dangerous actions was intense and the couple used this to their advantage. After evading capture for two years, they were finally stopped as they drove into an ambush on May 23, 1934 in Louisiana. They were killed in a hail of bullets by police.

Despite the gravity of their crimes, the story of Bonnie and Clyde has become an important part of American folklore. Their criminal exploits were further romanticize in the 1967 film, Bonnie and Clyde, starring Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty as the infamous duo.
