Today, June 6, is the anniversary of the Allied invasion of the beaches of Normandy in 1944. On the morning before, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the supreme commander of Allied forces in Europe, gave to go ahead for Operation Overload. The operation proved to be the beginning of the end of World War II.
