Profile of the Day: Jeff Bridges

Happy birthday to The Dude! Today actor Jeff Bridges celebrates his 71st birthday.

Bridges was born on December 4, 1949 in Los Angeles, California to actors Lloyd and Dorothy Bridges. Born into a Hollywood family, the Academy Award winning actor made his big screen debut as a baby in the 1951 film, The Company She Keeps. Growing up, he and his older brother, Beau, made occasional appearances on their father’s television shows, Sea Hunt and The Lloyd Bridges Show.

In 1971, Bridges caught his big break in the critically acclaimed movie The Last Picture Show, for which he earned his first Academy Award nomination. He has since been nominated a total of seven times, winning once in 2009 for his starring role in the film, Crazy Heart. Some of his most popular films include Tron, The Big Lebowski, and True Grit.
