Sunset this evening marks the beginning of the Jewish holiday, Hanukkah. Today we highlight Judas Maccabeus, who lead the Maccabean revolt against the Seleucid Empire. The festival of Hanukkah was instituted to commemorate Maccabee’s victory and the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem.
