Profile of the Day: Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake

Happy 37th birthday to Justin Timberlake! This year will be a big one for the popular musician. In just a couple of days, his fifth studio album will be released, right before his performance at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show.

The former Mouseketeer was born Justin Randall Timberlake on January 31, 1981 in Memphis, Tennessee to Lynn Harless and Randall Timberlake, a Baptist minister. He grew up surrounded by music and was taught to play the guitar by his grandfather, who in the past jammed with Elvis Presley. Timberlake was especially close to his grandfather and named his son, Silas Randall, in honor of him.

Timberlake got his start as a contestant on the talent show Star Search. From there, he became a member of The New Mickey Mouse Club alongside many future pop stars Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. He later shot to fame as a member of the boy band NSYNC, which would become one of the best-selling boy bands in history.

Since successfully launching his solo career and pursuing his interest in acting, the multitalented artist has won 10 Grammy Awards and 4 Emmys.
