Profile of the Day: Neil Armstrong

Neil Armstrong

Today, we celebrate the 46th anniversary of Apollo 11’s successful landing on the Moon. Do you remember watching Neil Armstrong take his first steps on the Moon?

The momentous occasion was broadcasted on live television to a world-wide audience. Over half a billion people watched as Neil Armstrong took his first steps on the Moon’s surface and say his now-famous words, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

Buzz Aldrin would join him later as the second man to set foot on the Moon, while Michael Collins remained in the command module. In total, Armstrong and Aldrin spent 21 hours, 36 minutes on the moon’s surface.
