Born in Brookline, Massachusetts, Robert was the seventh child of Joseph Kennedy, Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald.

After successfully managing his older brother’s presidential campaign, John F. Kennedy appointed him Attorney General. Robert would become one of President Kennedy’s closest advisors during his administration. A year after his brother’s assassination, Robert won a seat in the Senate, with aim to become the next Presidential candidate. A strong advocate of the American Civil Rights Movement, Robert maintained his commitment to racial equality throughout his own presidential campaign.

Sadly, Robert Kennedy was shot after a rallying speech at the California Democratic Primary in the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. He died from his wounds the next day at the age of 42.
