Shania Twain

Happy 50th birthday to Shania Twain! The hit country singer was born on this day in 1965.

She was born Eilleen Regina Edwards in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to Sharon and Clarence Edwards. Her parents divorced when she was two and soon after, her mother remarried. Her new stepfather legally adopted Shania and her sisters and changed their last names to Twain. Starting at the age of 8, Twain began singing at bars to help support her family. By the age of 10, she was writing her own music.

Over the course of her long career, Twain has won five Grammy Awards and received a star on both the Canada and Hollywood Walks of Fame. Today, Twain has sold over 85 million records worldwide, making her one of the best selling artists of all time. Some of her greatest hits include, “You’re Still the One,” “From This Moment On,” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”
