Remembering Marvin Caulk

It is with a heavy heart to report that we have lost an important member of the Geni community. On Wednesday, July 17, 2013, Geni Curator Marvin Caulk passed away after a long battle with cancer.

In January 2011, Marvin joined the ranks of Geni’s dedicated group of volunteers to help Curate the World Family Tree, a daunting task and one that Marvin embraced wholeheartedly as one of Geni’s ever-watchful eyes, guardians and mentors. He dedicated much of his time on Geni towards preserving not only his own personal family history, but also towards helping other users with their genealogy.

A retired United States Army Staff Sergeant, Marvin concentrated many of his collaborative projects toward honoring and remembering those who served their country. From projects for Medal of Honor recipients to those devoted to the unsung heroes of World War II, his projects on Geni not only brought together connected families but also enabled the stories of these soldiers to be shared with the world. We are comforted to know that Marvin’s legacy and contributions to the World Family Tree will continue to live on for the community and future generations.

We send our thoughts and prayers to Marvin’s family and friends.

Thank you Marvin for your passion and dedication to our community. You will be truly missed by us all.
