Beatrice was the legitimate daughter of William Gardiner, cloth Merchant turned fighter/knight for Sir Rhys Ap Thomas ap Gruffed ....He Married the illegitimate daughter of Lord Jasper Tudor ...Helen married William Gardiner who actually swung the AXE that killed Richard III at Bosworth Field. ANd Beatrice found a secure life in the household of Sir Rhys ap Thomas and Lady Eva, his first wife....She accompanied Lady Rhys/Rice along with her staff to the Field of the Cloth of Gold with King Henry VIII. Alswin Martin 1478 married Daffid ap Rhys-Rice1475 and their son William Was born March 1521....Beatrice as she was known in the household of Princess Mary Tudor was in fact Alswin Martin-Rice whose husband Daffid was a groom to Princess Mary Tudor who was age 9 when they came on board her service.....
Alswin or Beatrice completed her service to the Princess after Mary became Queen and Died in 1558. Daffid's son William/Henry, (he was called Henry in Princess Mary's household) Had his education paid for and clothing paid for the PRincess and are a matter of public record on line as Household expenses of the Princess Mary Tudor. The last entry was for 1638 when "Henry" was 16 years old....By twenty, he was married to Elizabeth Lattimer, and ssecondly to Elizabeth Batman. and in service to her and stayed on in service after she became Queen Mary....His support during the Assencion Crisis was rewarded with positions and Manor houses.
William Henry 1521 was Princess Mary's contemporary, and the Rumored son of Henry VIII so also her illegitimate 1/2 brother....ON May 2,1555 as queen, Mary Granted William his patent and a coat of ARMS which includes a sliced Pomegranite, the symbol of her Mother Katrin of Castile (one would suppose in recognition of their Kinship as 1/2 siblings). Many sites wrongly assign William/Henry as the Son of Sir Griffeth ap Gruffed ap Rhys ap Thomas 1508. Since Griffeth did not mary Katherine Howard until 1525 at age 16 this would make Griffeth a father at age 12 or 13....Possible but not likely. Alswin's Daughter Jonet, had a child Mary 1530 and she and William were counted in the Household of Lady Howard Rice/ during the peerage counts....most likely they were fostered with their 2 1/2 Cousin Griffeth....Burks Peerage does not show either one as Blood born children of Katherine Howard/Rice later the Countess of Bridgewater.
