Private User, says "It seems pretty clear that Jacques senior stayed in France, so to suggest that he died in SA is not supported. All that can be said from the letter was that he was alive in 1719, and considered himself old.
Where has a birth year of 1724 come from - this would make him ancient, not old - a very unlikely age for then."
Given that I asked for sources in 2013, and none have surfaced, I'm going to delete that info and lock those fields. If you have sources to prove this death place / date - please yell! :-)
