SmartCopy - the transfer of profiles and information from MyHeritage to Geni does not work anymore. I did this sucessful a couple of days ago but now SmartCopy just shows this "waiting"-symbol.

I can also open and log into the HistoryLink.

Several others have written me notes about 'non-responsiveness' of SmartCopy this weekend.

As of this note, it seems to work fine for me.

Remember to try using a "right-click" / "control-click" on the SmartCopy icon and select "Inspect Popup" from the menu.
-- that should show a second "diagnostic" panel; note any errors reported in that additional panel ... if any.

(No Name), I'm pushing out 3.1.5, which I'm hoping will fix your issue.

SmartCopy does respond again. Thanks

Gerhard, can you verify the version number (bottom of SmartCopy) and then try to logout. Click the [ i ] icon at the top right and then the Logout link on the bottom right.

One way to force the update is this: go to chrome://extensions in the address bar and clicked the Developer Mode button on the right side of the header. Then click the "Update Extensions Now" button.

Hi,
In the morning I worked for SmartCopy, but now I do not. Appear the message «Application error. An error occurred in the application and your page could not be served. If you are the application owner, check your logs for details». I tried to run SmartCopy on another computer, through another Internet provider, but the message was repeated. Is it a SmartCopy error or have I had any problems with authorization?

I can't login with it either. I have tried logging out and in via the links buy I get application error using them too (http://historylink.herokuapp.com/login )

Same problem and error message for me.

Restarted server - should be back up now.

Works now, thanks !

Thanks, now works normally.

I often use Smartcopy at Ancestry.co.uk - this evening I get this message -

SmartCopy can work with the various country-based sites of Ancestry, but you must first sign into the main english website.
Please login to Ancestry.com

I am logged in to the English site!

Private User,

You need to login to Ancestry.com in addition to your login on Ancestry.co.uk. They use the same account information, but are really different sites.

Kevin

Thanks for your advice Kevin - however - if I click the link to Ancestry.com is immediately flicks me to the UK site - no time to log in!!

I don't have enough experience with Ancestry to say how to fix this. When I query Ancesrty for your profile, I'm doing so via Ancestry.com. I'll try to take a look, but don't think I'll get to it until tomorrow

Private User,

Go directly to Ancestry.com and login there.

Kevin

Tried that Kevin - get re-directed within seconds!!

OK - used Safari instead of my usual Chrome and managed to sign in! Seems to work now!

Hi,
today the problem is again - there is no answer from historylink.herokuapp.com.

Private User, I'm not seeing any errors at the moment.

Now the problem is gone

Smart Copy stopped working. Is this a problem for me or for Smart Copies?

I just worked for me.

I'm guessing, Petr, the problem is a slow connection between your location and the herokuapp.com site.

SmartCopy primarily runs locally on your computer; it uses the site historylink.herokuapp.com to "authenticate" against your Geni login. Once that is done, any updating is done directly to Geni.com.

I copy MyHeritage tree and note a this kind bug..

When profile have a birth information with birth year is "calclulated"

Smart Copy can't copy any informations of birth.. all options are missing.

Here is profile in geni, @Pekka Lavikainen.
Pekka Erkinpoika Lavikainen

Try copy or update this proflile birth informations to geni.

Translations for my previous message...
Syntymä = Birth
Laskettu = Calculated

Petri: Yes, SmartCopy is not picking up the "Calculated" dates; however, you can click the "eye" symbol (turning it blue) to reveal all the detail fields -- and thus fill in the calculated date yourself.

That "eye" is a short-cut for "view all the detail fields" (grey -> blue) / "hide fields without parsed data" (blue -> grey).

This is described at (currently) the bottom of the SmartCopy Project Description.

Dan, Thank your for your information!

I've been having trouble for the past day or so with Smartcopy when copying from MyHeritage, Private User. It starts to run through everything and then gets hung up on "Determining Locations" and just spins there endlessly. I removed and reinstalled my Chrome Extension and it's still happening. Let me know what to do.
