I have asked the managers of Margaret Crawford's profile if they would supply a source reference for her marriage to William Mure of Rowallan, or, alternatively, a source reference for their putative son Andrew Mure, but I would like to invite any other member of the Geni community who might have this information to provide assistance.

Margaret Crawford

William Mure of Rowallan

Andrew Muir, indweller in Glasgow

I see a note in Andrew Mure's profile:

Parents:
Janet Muir Of Rowallan (born Maxwell Of Newark) & William Muir of Rowallan

So perhaps there was a mixup?

However Janet and William did not seem have a son Andrew

William Mure of Rowallan was married first to: "Jonet Maxwell daughter to the laird of New-wark whose moyr was daughter to Conynghame laird of Craigends." Rowallane Historie, p. 85

I have been unable to find any record evidence for Andrew Mure, son of William Mure of Rowallan, and his first wife Janet Maxwell.

There is no mention of a son named Andrew in the Mure Historie https://archive.org/stream/historieanddesc00muirgoog#page/n91/mode/1up or in Paterson’s account of the family. https://archive.org/stream/historyofcountyo02pateuoft#page/190/mode...

If they did have a son named Andrew who settled in Glasgow, then there is no evidence of him in the burgess records, 1573-1750. https://archive.org/stream/scottishrecordso43scotuoft#page/n6/mode/1up

Disconnected Andrew Muir, indweller in Glasgow from parents.

Disconnected Margaret Crawford from husband

On 13 February 1214 HRH Prince Keiren de Muire Von Drakenberg created the profile for Margaret Crawford regrettably, he did not add any source references to Margaret’s overview, but he did record her year of birth as 1560 and her year of death as 1615.

It is difficult or impossible to reconcile the year of birth and death provided with the proposed marriage to William Mure of Rowallan. This is because William’s first wife Janet Maxwell appears to have died before 15 May 1605, the date upon which he was contracted to marry his second wife Elizabeth Makgill, Lady Culzean His second wife died in January1622.

Additional research has now identified a testament dative for Margaret Crawford the wife of William Muir, merchant in Glasgow who died on 29 September 1615. Images of her testament dative will eventually be included in her overview.

Margaret Crawford’s husband William Muir is not the same person as William Mure of Rowallan He was the son of John Mure of Rowallan Margaret Crawford’s husband was in fact the son of William Muir, Flesher in Glasgow

William Muir, merchant in Glasgow and his wife Margaret Crawford had two children before she died on 29 September 1615, but there is no evidence for them having had a son named Andrew Muir. The children follow:

# Jonat Muir
# James Muir

Following the death of his wife Margaret, William Muir, merchant in Glasgow, may have married for a second time, but this has yet to be established.
