Some researchers believe that Robert (the convict) returned to England and it was a different Robert LOCKLEY in the late 1850's

http://www.williamsancestry.com/314.htm

Robert married Catherine on 22 Apr 1861 and their ages are reported as 29 and 20 respectively. Reg No 318/1861 RGD 37.(87 on the copy of the certificate of Marriages from the General Register Office in Tas 14 June 1909). They were married in the Kingston Parish Church of the United Church of England and Ireland by Edward Norman, Officiating Minister. He could not sign his name and gave a x as the mark of Robert Lockley. He was a chain maker and Batchelor.
Possibly born 1831-2

However, if he was the convict Robert Lockley, he was born in 1825 and must have lied about his age. At this stage I have included the convict Robert Lockley's Parents.

If the ages he gave on his marriage is correct, Robert Lockley and Catherine Hingley arrived here free people, not the convict Robert Lockley who lived up North Tassie and left to go to Melbourne and probably back to England.

There is a book "The family of Robert Lockley and Catherine Hingley / written and compiled by Annette Banks." that might contain sources as to his father.

Has anyone been able to identify when Robert Lockley, Free Settler (1831-1895) arrived in Australia?
