We can confirm Ariaantje Jacobs, SM/Prog Haplogroup as H48 by triangulation of Michelle du Plessis' & Dianne Fitz Patrick's genetic tests which run through two of her daughters:

*Altijn "Aletta" Gerritsz Nel
**Michelle Anne du Plessis [confirmed by genetic test]

*Jacomina Aletta van Rooyen, SM
**Dianne Fitz-Patrick [confirmed by genetic test]

Thank you Sharon

Altijn "Aletta" Gerritsz van Deventer was a carrier, not the carrier of the R59W SA Porphyria mutation. (Her profile on GENI)
Ariaantje Abrahamse Jacobs, SM/PROG her mother, my 7th great grandmother and according to the late Sir Geoffrey Dean and UCT porphyria specialists, is the carrier of the R59W SA mutation. Dean subsequently traced the origins of VP to the marriage of this Dutch couple in Cape Town in 1688. (Dean G, Barnes HD. Porphyria; a South African screening experiment. Br Med J 1958;1:298-301) (Hift RJ, Meissner PN, Corrigall AV, et al. Variegate porphyria in South Africa, 1688 - 1996 - new developments in an old disease. S Afr Med J 1997;87:722-731)

Ariaantje and Gerrit Jansz van Deventer had 8 children and four carried the gene and that includes their daughter Altijn "Aletta" Gerritsz van Deventer, b4 (Altijn is not my 7th great grandmother - GENI?)

It is still uncertain today which of these two carried the R59W SA mutation.

(Altijn is not my 7th great grandmother - GENI?) Should she be and isn't? Let me know so I can walk the line for errors.

Altijn "Aletta" Gerritsz Nel is my 9th ggm on my mother's side. I do have Porhyria but not the R59W.

She is my 7th grgranny and nobody in my family has porphyria.

My 8th ggranny and luckily I don't have it either

Ariaantje Abrahamse Jacobs, SM/PROG is my 7th great grandmother. Not aware of Porhyria in the immediate family.

8th ggm, don't have it, or in family I know of.

I am a direct descendant of Ariaantje and her daughter Jacomina, my 7th great grandmother, and there is no sign of porphyria in our family

To date:

Through Jacomina b2:

Nadia - Yes
Charlette - No

Through Jan Hendrik b1:

Judi - No

Through Aletta b4:

Jan - No
Alex - No

Ariaantje Abrahamse Jacobs, SM/PROG is my 8th great grandmother.
My brother's daughter is possibly affected. Currently under medical investigation. Will keep you posted.

My mother has Porhyria

Just a question, was Altijn "Aletta" Gerritsz Nelrelated to King George III who also had Porphyria?

another question : Her sister born in Madagascar ??

cf Diana Bibow von Mecklenburg - Marlene de Bruin has this profile you manage been misplaced?

Nadia Chantalé Stander (Cohen) - do a relationship search between the two profiles

George III, King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland is Altijn "Aletta" Gerritsz van Deventer, b4's 14th cousin four times removed.

Not close enough :-)

http://hekint.org/documents/CMS_1969_Vol.28_No.1-2_-_Porphyria_Vari...

Here the assertion that Mary Queen of Scots the originator of porphyria for British Royals .

The diagnosis and treatment is described and the story that the insanity of King George III of England was due to porphyria variegata is refuted.

Interesting.
