YIVO replied and they have a collection of Lidski. Whether they have the tikei kesef we will see.

Anyhow, I find the description in the book reliable enough and think we can accept that Sheftel was Dov Ber's father. Did Rabbi Zecharya Mendel Klausner, of Krakow have any known relatives called Sheftel who could be Sheftel father of Dov Ber?

Private User I'm ignorant on this topic. We shall have to wait for an answer.

New information: I have been able to review Mark's FTDNA ydna matching results and have been able to ascertain that Mark does not match Ilya at all on the FTDNA match list, not even at Y12. This reduces the odds substantially for a common ancestor in the 1550 range. It is not impossible but far less likely now. Since it is quite easy to confirm the probabilities (which can be wrong as predictors) by comparing Mark's y111 haplotype with Ilya's, I would still like to do this, for which I will need Ilya's y111 haplotype.

Private User thanks for this info. Ilya should be joining soon.

Private User In the event Ilya is unable to join, or his genetic distance is too far from Mark's to justify a continuation of this project, I am glad that further unnecessary and expensive effort has been averted using good science, and also gratified by the substantial corrections and expansions made to the various connected trees. These improvements will put the respective branches in good stead for future research. Many thanks to everyone who helped with this one.
