My grandmother Ema Strausz was born in 1881 in balassagyarmat (Yarmat in short) in 1881 and got married there to moritz Moses Glattstein in 1902. Moses was a son of Rabi Simon Glattstein the Rabbi of Yarmat during the period 1881-1898 until he passed away in September 1898.
In the web site of the Yarmat Jewish community I found no record for his position and no response for this matter was responded by the administrator of this web site even for several emails. The only response was a photo of Rabi Simon tombstone, which I already had from my cousin who visited in Yarmat earlier. Strange behavior of the administrator.
The only record I found in the Jewish web site regarding to Glattstein is a memorial to my grandparent as a soldier in the Austro-Hungarian army who fell during the WWI. 9he fell in Folgaria at the Southern border of South Tirol which was part of the Hungarian- Austrian Empire and since the end of WWI it was annexed to Italy. The Italians destroyed the military cemetery in Folgaria and put the about 2600 bones in 4 mass graves with no identification and dishonoring the military cemetery of the enemy army as done in other places around Europe and other places. Shame to the Italians and weakness of the Austrian authorities letting such a shame and stain the memory of their soldiers).
So, dear Mr Weiser, do you have records regarding to my great grandfather position as a Rabi in Yarmat along these years?
Do you have birth and address location of the Strausz and Glattstein families? Birth certificate of my grandmother Ema Straus?
In addition- my great grandmother, the wife of Rabi Simon, Hani Glattstein ( maiden surname Gelman) is not mentioned any more as Rabi Simon got married the second time, in 1984 with Julia Schlesinger. Is there any record evidence to Hani whether she passed away or divorced? and when?
I cannot read Hungarian language but use Google translate which is not accurate.
Appreciate any support in record evidence regarding the matters mentioned above.
Menachem Galan (Glattstein)
