Private User thinks that Juliana Constant has been incorrectly merged.

Her daughter Elisabeth Krause was born in 1717, indicating that Juliana was born about 1700. This makes it extremely unlikely/impossible that she was the daughter of Philippus Simon Constant (a 10 year old father?).

I think it's more likely she was his sister, but have no evidence other than that he gave the name 'Maria Juluana' to his actual daughter, indicating a likely family connection.

Please could you unlink Juliana from current parents, I would propose that she either needs to be re-added as Philippus's sister, or left without any parents until firmer evidence can be found.

Many thanks,
Ian

Pieter Andries Rossouw - I see you added them. Do want to take a look and add your thoughts?

https://www.e-family.co.za/ffy/g8/p8297.htm has a 1722 baptism record with those parents for a Juliana Constant b. b 25 Oct 1722

Juliana Constant was baptized on 25 October 1722 Nederduitsch Gereformeerde Kerk, Stellenbosch, de Caep de Goede Hoop.
Baptism Register, Palmkronieke I Baptisms, Jùliana, d'Vader Philip Constant, d'Moeder Catharina Hijlon, getùyge Jan Nel, en Sùsanna Flerij 25e Octob 1722.

However Johann Ahlers uploaded the baptism of a daughter of a Juliana Constant -
Elisabeth Groenenberg -

  • Date of Baptism Mar 21 1717
  • Place of Baptism Cape Town, Cape Of Good Hope, South Africa
  • Parents Gysbert van Groenenberg & Juliana Constant

So it does seem that the Juliana Constant who is the mother of Elisabeth, can't also be the one who is a daughter of Simon.

created a second Juliana Constant bap 1722. Invited you both to manage

Thanks Sharon!

I wonder if Juliana Constant v.d.K. might have been the un-named infant voorkind of Helena van Macassar who was sold to Simon Van der Stel along with her mother in 1690? Or even the daughter 'Lea' who was bapt in 1693? (could 'Lea' be a shortened form of 'Julia' ?). There is no further record for either of these children.

Although neither would have been biological children of Hendrik Constant van Macassar, perhaps they could have adopted the surname once their mother married him?

fascinating
