I think there was a Charles Simmons born in Surry County and died in Southampton County,who married Mary Wainwright, and another (man of this profile) who died in Campbell County married to Sarah Unknown.
I think the two are being combined in this profile
This states Charles of this profile had 10 children (rather than 15 given in his profile).

SIMMONS-Will of Charles Simmmons of Campbell Co., Va., dated 4 Sept 1794. Names his eight sons, James, Charles, John, Joseph, George, William, Peter and Rueben, and his daughters, Margaret Young and Sarah Standley.
This also gives just 10 children
*Campbell County, Virginia Wills, 1782-1800, by T. L. C. Genealogy, P.O. Box 403369, Miami Beach, Fl, repository: Fairfax, VA Library. This is an extract of wills, refers to actual will being on Page 264 of Campbell County Wills, 1782-1800.
To my children (to wit) James Simmons, Charles Simmons, John Simmons, Joseph Simmons, George Simmons, William Simmons, Peter Simmons, Margaret Young, and Sarah Standley - 20 shillings, to be equally divided among them.
To my son Reuben Simmons - 2 negro girls, Phillis and Eastor."
I think the "extra" children belong to this Charles who died Southampton.

The Will That Was Not A Will
Will? d. 29 Jan 1755 by Charles Simmons (Document did not state that writing was a will) "Memr'd that I give to MARY SIMMONS one negro girl named Patience, I give to SARAH SIMMONS one Do named Rachel. I give to ANN SIMMONS one Do named Jany. I give to CATHERINE SIMMONS one Do named Hagah. I give JOHN SIMMONS one Do named Tom." Wit: JOHN SIMMONS, SARAH BUTTS - Signed CHAS SIMMONs

Unfortunately, the Keesee research is not correct in connecting the Charles whose will was filed in Campbell Co in 1794 with the Charles who was born in Surry Co in 1730 and whose real will was filed in Southampton Co.-
His widow, now Mary Jones filed a paper 3/12/1772 disclaiming, renouncing and refusing any benefit under the will but asking for her widow's part according to what the law allowed for widows. She was married to Albridgton or Elberton Jones, the widower of her sister-in-law Elizabeth Simmons. From the records, the children of Charles and Mary Wainwright Simmons appear to be: Edwin, Mason, William, Jenny. The orphan records start in 1768 which indicates Charles was already deceased by that time.
Clearly, since the man who died in Campbell was a widower and Mary Wainwright out lived her husband Charles Simmons, the Keesee research doesn't fit at all.

The Charles Simmons who was born in Surry in 1730 and married Mary Wainwright, died before 1768 when Mary appeared in the Orphan's Court records in Southampton Co. In 1770 she married
Albrigton Jones. The Charles who died in Campbell in 1794 is NOT the Charles who married Mary Wainwright.
The Campbell Charles [who died in Campbell] was a widower and his wife's name is not known. There is no DNA connection between the Tidewater Simmons and those who ended up in Floyd County almost a century later"
I think the children of Charles of Campbell Co., the man of this profile, should be:
James Simmons, Charles Simmons, John Simmons, Joseph Simmons, George Simmons, William Simmons, Peter Simmons, Reuben Simmons, Margaret Young, and Sarah Standley
I think the wife of Charles of Campbell Co., the man of this profile,might have been an Unknown Sarah.
I think Charles of Southampton had these families:
Charles first wife was Eleanor Butts. they had 5 children;
John Simmons, spouse Lucy Simmons , married 13 July 1769 in Southampton, Virginia.
Mary Simmons
Sarah Simmons
Ann Simmons ,spouse Benjamin Kirby married 25 Jan 1770 in Southampton, Virginia
Catherine Simmons;
Charles married Mary Wainwright on 2 Dec 1756 in Southampton, Virginia. They had 4 children.
Mason Simmons, no spouse, b. 1757, d. 1830
Edwin Simmons died 1808 Spouse, Rebecca Simmons, married 17 March 1785;
William Simmons
Jane Simmons, married a Westbrook
Anyone want to try and sort these two famileis?
