About Nawruz Beg Mehmed, Khan in the Golden Horde 1359-1360

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nawruz_Beg

Nawruz Beg (claimed to be son of Öz Beg according to contemporary Venetian notary, or of Jani Beg according to eastern sources)

Nauruz Khan [1] - Khan of Ulus Jochi (Golden Horde) (January 1360 - May-June 1360 ). Origin unknown, impostor. His Muslim name was Muhammad.

In January 1360, Nauruz overthrew and killed Kulpa . He posed as the son of Khan Janibek . After the death of the Grand Duke of Moscow Ivan the Red, many princes went to the Horde so that the Khan approved them on the princely tables. Nauruz handed over the label for the great reign to the Nizhny Novgorod prince Andrei Konstantinovich , who, in turn, ceded it to his younger brother Dmitry Suzdal .

As a result of the conspiracy of the emirs, the horde-ezhenid Khizr was overthrown and executed (according to Russian chronicles - Kidr), who in 1359 declared himself a khan in Gulistan.

Newruz Beg Mehmed
Khan of the Golden Hord 1360-1361 Predecessor : Qulpa Successor : Khidr Khan ibn Sasibuqa Khan

Nawruz Beg pretended to be a son of Jani Beg and Khan of the Blue Horde. He succeeded to the throne after murdering his brother Qulpa, though like his brothers, his reign lasted a year before he himself died; the cause of his death is unknown. Nawruz Beg's death precipitated the period of anarchy in which over twenty khans succeeded in the Horde (the first of them was Khidr) or in various parts of the Horde, many of them concurrent, and having no real claim to the throne. Some of khans reigned only de jure; supreme military rulers ruled de facto; Mamai being the most capable and famous of these.

NAWROZ (-[killed 1360/61]). Howorth says that “Khuandemir tells us Nurus falsely pretended to be a son of Janibeg’s, that is therefore a brother of Berdibeg’s. Karamzin merely says that he was a descendant of Juchi Khan”[183]. He murdered his brother and succeeded in 1360 as NAWROZ Khan of the Golden Horde. Howorth records that “the general view is that Kulna was killed and succeeded by Nurus Khan, yet it is curious that coins both of Kulna and Nurus occur both in the years 760 and 761, struck too apparently in all parts of the Khanate, so that it would appear that their reigns were in fact concurrent and contemporary, and not actually successive”[184]. Howorth says that “the reign of Nurus was but a short one. We are told that Khidr...killed Nurus, his son Timur, and the old Khatun Taidula”. One child: TIMUR (-[killed 1360/61]).
