About Ögedei Khan

He was named with a different name at birth, but once he grew up he did not like his name and he was re-named as Ögedei, which means "ascension". Ögedei had four (4) main wives and sixty (60) concubines. Ögedei had seven (7) sons. His wives in order of marriage:

1) Burakchin - eldest wife.

2) Turakina (Turakin) - from Merkit tribe. She we previously married to Dayr-Usun - leader of Merkit tribe, and after he was killed, she was brought for Ögedei Khan. And before this Dayr-Usun gave his daughter Kulan-Hatun to be wife of Genghis Khan. Turakin was very bossy, not beautiful, she resisted Ögedei and he had to take her by force. Genghis Khan approved this marriage, although brother Chagatay did not like this. Turakina cause chaos in Genghis Khan, she disobeyed her own family and Genghis family. Turakina was mother of Ögedei's five (5) sons. The remaining two (2) sons were born from concubines.

About Ögedei Khan (Persian)

УГЭДЭЙ ХАН (1186 - 11 декабря 1241) - великий хан (с 1229). Третий сын Чингисхана и второй Великий хан Монгольской империи, преемник своего отца. Он продолжил экспансивную политику, которую начал его отец. При Угэдэе было завершено завоевание Северного Китая, завоеваны Армения, Грузия и Азербайджан, предприняты походы хана Батыя в Восточную Европу. "Сокровенное сказание" приписывает Угэдэй-хану следующие слова: "Взойдя на родительский великий престол, вот что совершил я после деяний государя и родителя. Я окончательно покорил Гиньское царство - это во-первых. Во-вторых, я учредил почтовые станции для ускорения передвижения наших послов, а также и для осуществления быстрейшей доставки всего необходимого. В третьих, я приказал устроить колодцы в безводных землях, чем доставлю народу воду и корма, и наконец, учредив должности алгинчинов и танманчинов, установил полный покой и благоденствие для всего государства. Итак, я прибавил четыре своих дела к деяниям своего родителя".
