Gisele Caroline Bündchen is a Brazilian model and occasional film actress. According to Forbes, she is the highest-paid model in the world and also the sixteenth richest woman in the entertainment world, with an estimated $70 million fortune. Bündchen also acts as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme.

Born into obscurity, Bündchen grew up in the town of Horizontina, Brazil, and reportedly never gave much, if any, thought to modeling; in fact, she harbored a passion for volleyball at an early age and foresaw herself becoming a professional volleyball player. She enrolled in a professional modeling course at age 14 to improve her posture -- a course that ended with a trip to a São Paulo shopping mall, where talent scouts were waiting. On her website, Bündchen modestly concludes "they must have liked me"; in retrospect, it appears certain that when the said agents laid eyes on her, they almost certainly realized that they were looking at one of the most fantastic discoveries of the era and someone who redefined "photogenic." In virtually no time at all, Gisele was everywhere. Unlike some of her contemporaries -- such as Crawford and Elle MacPherson -- Bündchen undertook a somewhat reserved foray into Hollywood features. Her first appearances constituted bit parts in such pictures as Taxi (2004) and The Devil Wears Prada (2006).

Bündchen lends her support and image to a number of charities and humanitarian causes, such as the I am African campaign, in which she painted her face to protest the lack of attention given to Africa's HIV/AIDS victims. On 20 September 2009, she was designated Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

After relationships with actor Leonardo DiCaprio and professional surfer Kelly Slater, in late 2006 Bündchen began dating New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

On Thursday, February 26, 2009, Bündchen married Brady in a small Catholic ceremony at St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica, California. On April 5, 2009, the couple remarried in a larger ceremony in Costa Rica, with Brady's son with actress Bridget Moynahan present. For the April ceremony, Bündchen wore a dress and veil designed by John Galliano.

On June 19, 2009, People magazine reported that Gisele was pregnant with her first child with Brady, and that the baby was due on December 14. On December 8, 2009, Bündchen gave birth to a boy in Boston, but they had trouble choosing a name. On December 18, 2009, she posted a message on her website indicating that their new son's name is Benjamin. In the April 2010 issue of Vogue magazine, she revealed that his full name is Benjamin Rein Brady and that his middle name is in honor of Bundchen's father Reinoldo.
