ABIGAIL (SANFORD) HODGES / 1720 - 1795

The fourth of five children reputedly born to John Sanford (circa 1672 - circa 1752) and Abigail (Pitts) Sanford (1689 - ????). Conflicting data states birth years of either 1720 or 1725, interment data states birthdate of October 21, 1720 in Taunton (Bristol County), Massachusetts. Abigail may have also had a twin sister, Elizabeth.

Abigail Sanford married Jonathan / John Hodges (1722 - 1795) in 1743 in Bristol County, Massachusetts. Jonathan Hodges was a great grandson of "ancient inhabitant" and original founder of Taunton, Henry Hodges, and Mary (Andrews) Hodges -- later Mary Pitts by second marriage to Peter Pitts. Abigail Sanford was a great grand daughter of Peter Pitts and Mary Andrews and grand daughter of Samuel Pitts and Sarah Bobet.

Abigail Hodges passed away, age 74, on either August of September 29, 1795 in Norton (Bristol County), Massachusetts. Abigail Hodges is interred beside husband Jonathan Hodges and numerous relations at Norton Common Cemetery in Norton, Massachusetts.
