About Patience Sanford
After Andrew Langworthy died, Patience married John Sanford, of Little Compton. On March 27, 1723, John bought 150 acres of land in Stonington, Connecticut, and it seems that the family (including the Langworthy children) moved to Stonington shortly thereafter.
Patience died between May 2, 1726, when she signed a deed with her husband John Sanford, and Aug 20,, 1728, when her sons Thomas and Joseph were heirs of Robert Brownell in right of their mother.

Research Notes
In 1685, when the division was made of Plymouth Colony, Bristol County had the towns of Taunton, Rehoboth, Dartmouth, Swansea, Bristol, Tiverton, Little Compton, Freetown and the plantations of Cumberland Gore and Attleboro. Little Compton’s name and land area was unchanged.
In 1691, Little Compton as part of the original settlement of Plymouth Colony merges with Massachusetts Bay Colony, et al to form the Province of Massachusetts Bay. [Plymouth Colony existed without a formal charter since it’s founding, as the Pilgrim’s were originally chartered for a destination in the Hudson River (New York) area.]
By 1747,Little Compton along with Tiverton secured their own royal decree, were incorporated, and annexed to Newport County as a part of Rhode Island along with Bristol. Because Little Compton was once part of the Plymouth colony, all probate and land records prior to 1746 can be found in Taunton and New Bedford.
