Abraham Wing

According to History of Queensbury, N.Y. by A.W. Holden, Abraham Wing was the son of Edward and Sarah (Tucker) Wing. In Warren County, Abraham Wing School bears his name.

Died: 3 May 1795, Glens Falls, Warren County, New York;

Father: Edward Wing, b. 10 July 1687, Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts; d. 1734, Dartmouth, MA; son of Daniel Wing and Deborah Dillingham

Mother: Sarah Tucker, b. 23 April 1693, Dartmouth, MA; dau. of Abraham Tucker and Hannah Mott

Marriage: 7 May 1741, Dartmouth, Bristol, Massachusetts

Spouse: Anstis Wood Wing, b. 7 Sep 1723, Segreganset, Bristol Co, Massachusetts; d. 29 May 1807, Glens Falls, Warren Co, New York; dau. of William Wood, and Hannah Shaw.

Anstis and Abraham had the following children:

• Sarah b. Dec. 7, 1745;
• Hannah b. Dec. 28, 1745;
• Benjamin b. Sep. 18, 1748;
• Deborah b. Jul 6, 1750;
• Patience b. Sep. 6, 1751;

• Mary b. Nov. 9, 1760.

Phebe, Sarah and Hannah married the Merritt brothers, Nehemiah, Ichabod and Daniel, respectively.

On Upper Bay Street, on the bank of Half Way Brook stands a granite stone with a bronze tablet on which is the following:

Wing Abraham and Edward Pioneers in the Town of Queensbury

They were descended from the Rev. John Wing and Deborah Batcheler She with four sons came to America in 1632 In 1762 King George gave a grant of the Town of Queensbury to Abraham and Edward Wing and others

About 1785 the Society of Friends built a log meting house on the ground Here was kept the first school and here was the first burial ground of the Pioneer Fathers

Erected by the Wing descendents 1911
