About Adolph Zadek Salomon
Adolph Zadek Salomon (Apr. 17, 1839 - Nov. 8, 1910) followed his older brothers Fred and Hyman to Denver. He became the first Jewish elected official in Colorado, and "opened a huge general store in Greeley where he helped the potato farmers establish a 'pool' to protect their interests"(United States Jewry, 1776-1985, Jacob Marcus, p. 147). He became one of the richest potato farmers in the area. Unfortunately, Adolph lost much of his fortune in the 1893 crisis (ibid).
