PUTATIVE PROFILE ONLY - supposedly married to Gideon Johannes Slabbert (NOT PROVEN!!!!) I have now put ex-partner in by lack of having another tab to describe her possible relationship to him - as she has not been removed from him yet.

Confusion in spelling her names! ( Maybe her names here, are also switched around,( wrongly written on my grandmothers's picture???) and it could perhaps be Adriana Maria???? ARGH!!!!

Kindly proceed with utmost caution on this VERY difficult profile.

Please be patient with me here. These are my thoughts, to try and get to docs and facts! It is not by lack of trying to get this profile sorted, that there are no docs. I have tried for many many years! This is my brickwall!

1. Her daughter in law and the daughter in law's child: :
The daughter in law, was my own great grandmother: Maria Adriana Van Niekerk x Thomas Ignatius (Edward) Slabbert - and they had a daughter Maria Adriana Slabbert, who died young (her nickname - Bubbles)

3. Caution: The Kock and Slabbert wives

I am however maybe starting to think, that these two profiles ie (the one married to J J Kock and the one married to G J Slabbert could be '''smergded''' and that they actually '''might be the same person and not sisters! ?''' Not confirmed yet! BUT: How do we decide if they are the same or are not the same person? Your valued opinions are appreciated! 

@Wilma, my conclusion is that this is exactly what has happened. They are the same person, and in fact the marriage to Slabbert is incorrect. There is no documentation, after ages of searching, that this woman existed with this name... there are baptism records for all the siblings but none for her... she is not the mother of any of GJ Slabbert's children, and she is not mentioned in SAG.

4. The problem with the same sounding names:
Why is her name, written by my grandmother- as Maria Adriaan?
(The pic is however placed with the right profile here!
This pic is according to what I know - not Adriana Maria Slabbert! )
Need to make sure of the names again!

5. According to my grandmother's handwriting : They were well to do Ostrich farmers in Oudtshoorn.(Grandma's handwriting is not very easily readable on the back of this picture, but I can make out what is written on there. It says: She was apparently quite strict, very religious and he was a gentle soft spoken and kind man.

6. Ferreira Name Confusion/ different spelling recording versions on documents:
In documents in the Cape Archives Repository the Ferreira's family name is given in different ways given such as honorable Verere, Verrere, Ferraire, Ferrera, Vreira, Freeden, Feryra, Ferrida, Fereira, Feirera, Feraira and Ferraira. These variations are probably written versions of the sounds that the Dutch officials at the expression of the surname Ferreira heard! Might also sometimes be spelling/ recording mistakes however?

7.Note her spelling of her birth surname as Fereyra or Fereijra, which differs to Ferreira - maybe just a recording error/ spelling variants?

People have unfortunately grabbed this photo of mine and erroneously placed it with Adriana Maria Slabbert's profile x Kock on myheritage! Their birth dates should not be the same - unless they actually are smerged profiles . Confusion?

I believe this picture of my Maria Adriaan and Gideon Johannes Slabbert should not be placed as the profile pics of the Johanna Wilhelmina Knoetze(n) lady - that was married to: Johannes Gideon Andries Slabbert .
I do not think this female's picture is this Knoetze(n) lady, or the picture of x Johannes Gideon Andries Slabbert.

I know I also do need to keep an open mind however - so kindly let me hear your valued opnions plz!

Sanity check: Need to make 100% sure of all of this, however! I am now maybe starting to consider the fact, that there might be a very small chance, that they are indeed the same person??? To be confirmed.

Reason: Names might just have been switched around in the oral tradition, (where she was called Maria Adriaan x G J Slabbert.) (NB see the back of my grandmother's picture, where my grandma recorded her name as Maria Adriaan Ferreira x G J Slabbert??? ) So - if these two are the same person, (just with a switched verbal tradition in the names) - then she maybe even need to have the 2 husbands Slabbert and Kock. HELP!

Daughter of Johannes Jacobus Kock and Adriana Maria Ferreira was born on October 12, 1788 - so this profile must have died after the birthdate of her daughter .
