Albert Zink, 82, of Iliff, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Tennant Funeral Home with Vigil and Rosary Evening Service to follow at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Iliff, with the Rev. Robert Wedow celebrating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Albert was born on Nov. 14, 1930, in Sterling to Phillip Zink and Mary Schwindt. He graduated from Iliff High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955. He then was a self-employed mechanic before going to work for RE-1 Valley Schools. He also drove a school bus for 45 years. He retired in 1994. He married Marge Kaiser on May 9, 1953, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sterling. They have been married for 59 years.
He was an active member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church where he served on the pastoral council. He served on the Iliff Town Council for many years. He was a member of the Sterling Elks for 25 years. Albert enjoyed his family, especially following his grandchildren's sporting events, school-related activities and recitals. He also enjoyed a good game of cards and fishing with his sons, grandchildren and brothers-in-law.
He is survived by his wife Marge Zink of Iliff; children, Sandy Schneider, Ron Zink and wife Peg, Jeanne Bedsaul and husband Dale, Tammy Kohlberg and husband Kevin, A.J. Zink and wife Stacey, Marci Henry and husband Mark, Mike Zink and wife Jamie; brother, Robert Zink; special friend, Artie Debus; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Mary; sisters, Marie Helbert, Anne Bellendir, Rosella Schneider; brothers, Phil and Joe Zink; son-in-law, Pat Schneider; and grandson, Collin Bedsaul. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Catherine's Building Fund or Masses.
