About Alexander Dunlop Anderson
In the words of Jean Buchanan: "A.D. Anderson, who lodged with Granny at Oxton after she was widowed, married her and she became Anderson. He was Uncle Willie's elder brother and died when the twins were aged only 5." It is interesting that he married a widow with children in his late 40s because his brother George Wilson had done likewise three years earlier, aged 47.
The England & Wales National Probate Calendar (online) reports that probate was granted to George Wilson Anderson, merchant, and William Dunlop Anderson, physician, [his brothers] and his effects were valued at £13,511 19 shillings and 4d.
