The Gettysburg Times September 20, 1972

Miss Alma A. Henry, 84, Fairfield, died this morning at 3:00 in Annie M. Warner Hospital. She had been ill for nine days. Miss Henry taught school for 45 years before her retirement in 1950. She began her teaching career in 1905 in Hamiltonban Twp., where she taught for 13 years before moving to the West Fairfield School in 1918, where she taught for ten years. In 1928 she began a 22-year stint at the Hamiltonban Consolidated School where she remained until her retirement. She taught First Grade there for two years, Grade One and Two for 19 years and one year she taught First, Second and Third Grade. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Fairfield, and a former member of the United Church of Christ, Fairfield, where she taught in the Primary Department of the Sunday school for 50 years. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers’ Association, the Pennsylvania, National and Adams County teachers’ associations. Surviving are a sister, Rms. Ida M. Sloanker, Fairfield, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 at St. John Lutheran Church with her pastor, Rev. Lloyd Seiler, and Rev.
