SH: immigrated to America in 1887 from Vienna, Austria and lived in New York City until his death in 1892. Passenger manifest of the SS City of Chester, Sept. 16, 1887; New York Death Certificate #3547.

Alois and his family departed Liverpool, England on September 1, 1887 aboard the vessel "City of Chester," and arrived at the Port of New York on September 16th. The Chester's Passenger List indicates the family began their journey from Hamburg. Auguste's Declaration of Intention to become a U.S. citizen states her last foreign residence was Vienna, Austria

Once in America, Alois was the progenitor of the New York, Washington, D.C., and Maryland stock of the Hubscher family

A New York City directory, circa 1890, lists Alois as a "necktie mkr" living at 1118 lst Avenue, a "commercial house." Alois died there at 11:00 PM on January 26, 1892 at the age of 56. Alois' death certificate says he was a resident of New York City for 4 years, 4 months, and 15 days ... or, since September 11, 1887. All of Alois' children resided in Baltimore, MD, in 1900, thirteen years after arriving in the United States.
