About Ann Peet
John Charles [Jr] was distributed in 1673 a share went to a John Peet for the children he had by h is deceased wife, daughter of John Charles. His will reads "2. Unto John Peate who married an other of ye sd Jn Charles his daughters also deceased 3 lbs, 10S". Although it is uncertain a s to which John Peet this was, there being no others in Stratford, except John Jr. seems to i dentify the daughter of John Charles as John Peet's wife. An inventory of an Anne Peacke wa s taken 29 Apr 1687 by John Green and Joseph Lockwood. Allowing for spelling variations tha t obtained in those days, could Anne Peacke have been the daughter of John Charles? Presumabl y John Peet labored as a farmer. He is known, however, to have been the first sexton and bel l ringer at the Congregational Church at Stratford, gathered first in 1639. In 1668 John Sr . gave his homelot to John Jr. and divided his other lands between his two sons, John and Ben jamin. John Sr. died 1 Sep 1684 in his 87th year.
