About Ann Root

Biography

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hull-1568

Ann Gull was born before 1663 in Wethersfield, Connecticut to William Gull and Elizabeth Smith, 34.[1] She was probably the second oldest of the four daughters of William and Elizabeth and also had four step-siblings from her mother's first marriage.

Some family trees show Ann's surname as "Hull" and her father as "William Hull", however that is not correct as shown by William Gull's Will and other sources.

The family emigrated to Hatfield, Franklin, MA about 1663.[2]

Ann Gull married Jonathan Root on March 22, 1680, in Northampton, Massachusetts.[3] They had six children in 14 years:

  • 377. VI Abigail, b. May, 1695 ; m. April 17, 1735, John King

Ann is mentioned in her father's Will, written in April 1701:

"I give and bequeath to my loving daughter Anna, wife to Jonathan Roote, my land in the meadows commonly called "The South Meadow" in Hatfield,... also my plot of land in that tract commonly called "Millwood Swamp" in Hatfield..."[4]

She died on September 4, 1746, in Northampton, Massachusetts, having lived 85 years.[5]
