About Anna Bonde-Mosesson

Anna Bonde-Mosesson is Eric Larsson af Kumo's 16th great granddaughter.

Half Swedish and half Finnish Anna Bonde-Mosesson, is a largely self-taught chef and restaurateur.

Anna was raised in a drafty castle in Scotland (Charleton House). At an early age her curiosity and love of food led her to the huge, warm kitchen, where she learned the basics of Scandinavian cooking from the family's Finnish cook. Her culinary education continued on family holidays in Sweden at the home of an ancient aunt, whose cook took her into the woods and taught her which mushrooms were edible and which berries to use to make sauces.

Anna started her own London catering business in 1982. As The Swedish Chef, she provided the culinary delicacies for many events, including Placido Domingo’s 40th birthday feast and a gala ballet reception with the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

In 1997 she opened her first restaurant, Scandelicious, in Suffolk and became one of the founding stallholders retailing fine food in Borough Market -- London's famous food market -- with her Swedish food stall also called Scandelicious.

Anna’s first London restaurant Glas was voted “favorite new restaurant in London” by the New York Times in 2005 and appeared in Time Out’s top 50 best restaurants in London. She then opened a second restaurant in London in Upper Street and called it Upper Glas.

Anna’s media career took off in 2004 when she was a finalist on the BBCs first ever MasterChef Goes Large. In 2009, she featured in Channel 4s Jamie Oliver Does Stockholm. She is a Radio 4 favourite and most recently was interviewed for Martha Stewart’s Living programme, talking about her latest book, The Food and Cooking of Scandinavia (published in January 2011). Anna's first book, Swedish Food and Cooking, was published in 2006. Anna has also contributed to numerous publications, including House & Garden, and Waitrose Food Magazine

A passion for educating the young about good food.

Anna is a popular demonstrator at food festivals around the UK and an enthusiastic supporter of educating children about food and cooking. Recently, she hosted at Jamie Oliver’s Big Feastival in London. Anna didn't just talk the talk, but "walked the walk" -- both figuratively and literally -- and demonstrated her huge commitment to the education of the next generation by cycling through Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam in March 2011 to raise money for The Jamie Oliver Foundation’s pioneering Kitchen Garden project at Orford Primary School in Suffolk. Anna covered 460 miles in 10 days and raised over £1,200 for the project, with proceeds going to enable more local children to get involved in the cooking and food growing classes held in the school's unique kitchen classroom. The following month, she swapped her bicycle helmet for her running shoes when she ran the Paris Marathon in support of the same cause.

And now... Ciao Umbria!

Most people who have visited Italy talk of Tuscany, now you must discover the beauty of Umbria just across the border with its rolling hills and ancient towns. It seems to be the Vegetable Garden of Italy with its fantastically rich alluvial soil and agriculture. Fabro is well known for being a "White Truffle" area and the locals are very secretive of where they are found. The vineyards are excellent for both red and white wines, Todi and Orvieto for their white wines and the famous Sagrantino grape grown in the Montefalco area. The olive oil is also very delicious and is famous in Umbria for its delicate smooth and peppery taste.
