Anna Elise used the name of Lisken, a nickname her father gave her. After her father died of tuberculoses, she was sent to live with her Uncle Sogge and Aunt Regina Strømsted in Trondenes. Lisken must have spent a few years in Oslo between 1909 and 1912, When she was 23 years old she boarded a steamship from Oslo on September 6, 1912 bound for New York. She arrived New York September 17, 1912 and was met by relatives (I believe Rolf and Tulrolf Strømsted, her twin uncles) who were living in Brooklyn, NY. There she worked as a maid (for a German family) until she met and married Jacob Larsen in 1915. Around 1921 they moved to Sanger, California.
