Beatrice Rose

Beatrice Rose Davey born Walthamstow Dec. 1895.' Moved with family to Southend on sea circa 1910. Beatrice Rose was related to the Davey family of Islington of Victorian era, being a daughter of William & Eliza Davey formally of Templeton rd. Islington. She was a good singer when young & performed on stage in various operas of the period including " Chu Chin Chow" about aged 12.This was prior to first war, a poster has just been discovered of this act. Some of these were in West end others later at Ilford theatre we understand. Beatrice continued with her interest in music & was always able to recite songs even in her 70s. Profile photo is circa 1932/34. Married to Leonard James Simpson a Southend builder & architect. Daughter Stella Doris May born in June 1920.' Who was later encouraged by Beatrice to learn classical music & as a result became an accomplished pianist by age 14 (see Stella Simpson profile) During the 1920s Beatrice was asked by William her father to inquire what became of his sisters children (Smith by birth) Much was open to speculation & apparently false trails & lost relatives at the time.Some of the children were never traced which was partly due to many of the family's deaths prior to the date.( 1890-1920) A matter of considerable discussion for many years but now grandson of Mrs BRS has with research in the 21 st century uncovered much of the missing information.
