Baily Barton and Jane Field.!Benjamin was a Private in Captain Parson's Co. and Colonel Robucks Regiment, South Carolina troops during the Revolutionary War. He resided on the Pacclet River in Spartenburg District, and was in a battle for which the dates and details were not given. Sometime after his marriage, he moved to Greenville Distirct and later to Pickens District.

Major Pearson, Col. Benjamin Roebucks Regiment, South Carolina troops; served in a Block House on the line, came in service to Earl's Fort in scouting parties in the surrounding Country and one battle. In 1845, Dorcas applied for a pension for the service her husband had rendered to his Country. Revolutionary War Pension File of Benjamin Barton, W20 682. Copy in Barton Blue Book, 1994.!He resided with his parents in North Carolina---the area was ceded to South Carolina
between the forks of the Pacolet River, Ninety-Six District, Spartanburg Co. (near the present town of Fingerville), during the Revolutionary War. In 1780, while in service, he became acquainted with Dorcas Anderson while she was under protection in Earle's Fort, near Landrum, South Carolina., but across the State line. They were married at the home of her mother, about one mile above the fork of the Pacolet River (Pension File W-20683). They were married by Rev. Joseph Camp, Baptist minister. They removed to Pendleton District, now Pickens Co. South Carolina where he died.Following info is from notes by Barbara PaceMatthew Abbett made affidavit in 1845 that he recollects that Benjamin Barton and his wife came from Spartanburg to Greenville on a visit after the land office was opened in Greenville, and that their son was about 1 yr old, Nancy Wade of Pickens District, in 1846, stated she was married in 1780 and knew that Benjamin and Dorcas married not very long afterwards.!Following info from Caroleen DorseyBurial: Pickens Co., SCMilitary service: Served 253 days Militia duty, after May 12, 1780 (fall of Charleston) 1782, as a private under Capt.
