Biography

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Beach-1857

Benjamin Beach was born in October 1644, a son of Richard (one of the signers of the original New Haven compact in 1639) who married in 1640 to Mary, widow of Andrew Hull.[1]

Marriages

Benjamin married three times.[2]

  • He married as his 1st, to Mary Peacock, daughter of John Peacock.[2]
  • He married on 1 Feb 1678, as his 2nd, to Sarah (Wells) (b 28 Sep 1659), daughter of John and Sarah (Curtis) Wells.[2]
  • He married on 5 Dec 1705, as his 3rd, to Mary (Wheeler) Fairchild, widow of Samuel Fairchild.[2]

Research Notes

But his first wife had brought him Benjamin, born 1672 [Deed Book 1 (1652-1684) Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, page 44, Benjamin ye son of Benjamin Beach born Octr 28 1672];

[Benjamin Beach Senior had a son Benjamin Beach by his second wife Sarah born 1st of October 1683 seen in Deed Book 5 (1710-1753) Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, page 57, "Beniiamin ye son of Beniiamin Beach was Borne Octr 1st 1683"] ;

Bethia, 1674 [Deed Book 1 (1652-1684) Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, page 59, Bethiah ye daughter of Benjamin and Mary born April 23rd 1674];

[Benjamin Beach senior had another child by his first wife Mary as seen in Deed Book 1 (1652-1684) Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, page 58, Mary ye daughter of Benjamin Beach born January 19th 1676].

Goodwin's Genealogical Notes, 254[3], led me into the error of making Sarah, widow of Beach to married another time whereas Benjamin Beach long survived her, and the recorded of Stratford shows his third wife "December 1705, Benjamin Beach senior married widow Mary Fairchild" [Deed Book 2 (1683-1724) Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, page 479a, Benjamin Beach Senior married Mrs Mary ffairchild Decr 5th 1705].
