One cannot look back on the spirited and colorful story of Bernice Wesatzke and not be left with a sense of awe at the one thing that always shines through: her incredible and constant strength. Family was always at the center of her world, and she was a solid rock foundation on which her husband, her daughters, and later their families could always rely. There were tough times along the way, and her indomitable spirit and unwavering faith inspired everyone to keep on going no matter what life threw at them. When all else failed, everyone could count on her to crack a smile and offer some morsel of wisdom, usually with her own priceless brand of dry wit. Pragmatic and full of energy, she volunteered for many years at Good Samaritan Lutheran home, where she could stay close to daughter Evelyn and contribute to the wellbeing of not only her own daughter but all of the other residents as well. Family members will always cherish warm memories of holidays and summer weekends spent under her roof, with food, games, laughter and love flowing through every room. Bernice is survived by her daughters, Sarah Knippa and husband Ken, Melinda Wren and Carol Nylund and husband Howard; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; as well as her sisters and other family members, all of whom will take her spirit, her strength, her sense of humor, and her faith as inspiration in the days and years to come. This is the truest gift, to be treasured by everyone who knew her, and for which each will be eternally grateful: the glorious memory of a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother whose indelible mark on their lives is an honor to be worn with pride.
