Marye Ellen Drushel

Marye was born the daughter of David S. and Pearl Wimberly, she has made her home in Houston since the mid-fifties. She graduated from the University of Houston with a B.A. degree and was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Women's National Honor Society and later earned a Masters degree in Education. She taught speech and drama at Dean Junior High School in the Cypress - Fairbanks I.S.D. for 21 years and in 1971-72 was named "Teacher of the Year." Her students won numerous awards in speech and drama tournaments. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, George Drushel, Jr., who adored her. Also by her children Judy Wilcox, Marilyn Alexander, George Drushel, III and Geoffrey Drushel and his wife, Carolyn, and stepson Roger Drushel and wife Margaret. Also sisters Bernice Wesatzhe, Edna Earle Edwards, Yvonne Tidwell and Ann Sheppard, as well as seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
