About Beth A. Glazebrook

INDIAHOMA Funeral for Beth Asenap Glazebrook, 93, Indiahoma, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at Post Oak Mennonite Brethren Church in Indiahoma.

Burial will be in Post Oak Cemetery under direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.

Glazebrook went to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, with her family by her side.

Beth was born Jan. 18, 1921, to Herman Asenap and Bessie Parker, daughter of Quanah Parker, last Chief of the Comanche Nation. She attended Fort Sill Indian School and graduated the ninth grade in 1937 and later graduated from Chilocco Indian School in Kansas in 1940. After high school, she went to work at Fort Sill Laundry and later Pick and Pat's Cleaners.

She met the love of her life, Walter Glazebrook, while working at Pick and Pat's Cleaners. They married in 1953 and were married for 29 years. Together, they began working at A-1 Cleaners. While working at A-1 Cleaners, they were given the opportunity to purchase the business and property and renamed it Walt's Cleaners, which was located on C Avenue in downtown Lawton. In 1962 urban renewal purchased the property and the business relocated to 2nd Street. As the couple began to age, they moved their business to Cache. where they did all the cleaning for the pastors and family of Post Oak Mennonite Brethren Church.

The couple was always determined to help those in need. Due to the death of her husband in 1982, Beth decided to shut down Walt's Cleaners. Beth was active in the community of Indiahoma where she sat on the city council for eight years and served as mayor for a day. Jan. 21,2001, was declared Beth Glazebrook Day in Indiahoma. She was a member of Post Oak Mennonite Brethren Church and attended faithfully until the time of her death. She taught Sunday school, was on the board of trustees and the Church Committee for many years. She actively participated in the Fellowship Hall Fund and was able to celebrate her 90th birthday in the building. She was also hostess for the church and if anyone needed a place to stay, her home was open. If visitors came she would take them out to eat or feed them in her home.

She was a proud member of the Comanche Tribe and was active in Comanche politics. She sat on the board of Child Welfare, the Election Board, and Elderly Advisory Board of the Comanche Tribe.

Beth and Walt were class parents of their children, Mike and Judith. They went on senior trips together. She helped raise her nephew Daryl Hernasy and took in 'Smokey Joe' and her brother Gilbert for a period of time. Beth never met a stranger and loved all people often referring to herself as a 'Good Ole Joe'. She loved sports, especially OSU and Oklahoma City Thunder.

She is survived by her children: Mike and Margala Asenap, of Indiahoma, and Judith and Larry Gordon, of Cache; a sister; Rhoda Tate, of Indiahoma; grandchildren: Melissa Jones, Barry Bruce Asenap and Chris Gordon; great-grandchildren: Chisholm and Briley; a great-great-grandchild, Addison; and special niece Arlene Asenap

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers: Hollis Asenap, Gilbert Asenap, Teddy Asenap; sisters: Rowena Tonemah, Linda Asenap-Williams and Martha Asenap-Tenequer.

Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. today at Comanche Nation Funeral Home Chapel.

The family would like to thank Faith Hospice for their loving care.
